Fish Sizing Sonar For Aquaculture
The
AquaSonar® Fish Sizing Sonar is a
simple,
fast, accurate, automatic and non-invasive method to acquire crucial
fish size data. This patented technology consists of a compact
underwater transducer module coupled with a lightweight and portable,
topside electronics module.
The transducer is
positioned inside a fish
cage and rapidly sizes hundreds of individual fish automatically, with
no post-processing. Fish size data is displayed instantly and stored in
the electronics module for later transfer to computer.
Custom AquaSonar® ID (Interface/Database) software is provided for display, analysis and archiving of AquaSonar® fish size sample data. The system is presently calibrated for Atlantic salmon and Chinook salmon but ASTL is exploring the application for other species.
Simple - Fast - Accurate
- Advanced
sonar technology allows individual fish to be distinguished and sized
from within a cage of fish.
- Dynamically
responds to varying fish swimming speeds, rearing densities and
oceanographic conditions.
- Fish sizing is immediate and automatic with no
time consuming and expensive post-processing.
- Fish size data can be acquired from multiple
cages each day, day or night, with minimal set-up time and no special
training.
- Ability to rapidly sample a high percentage of
the total population of fish in any given cage, providing accurate fish
size statistics.
- An easy to follow, step-by-step instructional
manual is provided and technical support is available through site
visits and demonstrations.
- Modeling and forecasting of fish availability
and marketing based on more timely, accurate and comprehensive data.
